Alexandra Cruz

In 1997 she finished the Architecture Degree from the Architecture University of Lisbon being awarded the Prize Commendatory Joaquim Matias for Best Final Project, and in 2001 finished the MA in Scenography at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design with the final qualification of First Class Honours.

She collaborated in several set design projects for theatre and dance with the visual artist Daniel Blaufuks and the Architect João Mendes Ribeiro, with whom she has also developed projects in co-authorship before starting with her own set designs for the performances Nós depois Telefonamos and Vagabundos de Nós as well as Art Direction for films.

She designed the exhibition Serralves 1940, presented at Casa de Serralves, Oporto and one installation for the exhibition “Universos Sensiveis” presented at CCB, Lisbon. She is co-author of the project Paisagens Flutuantes (Floating Landscapes), part of the exhibition “Linha de Água” organized by Experimenta Design.

She has also been involved in the organization and production of several cultural projects, and was executive producer and director’s assistant in the film Paisagens Invertidas (Reversed Landscape) directed by Daniel Blaufuks.

Between 2002 and 2005 she was Assistant Professor in the discipline “Concept, Techniques and Exposition Methods” of the 4th year of the Visual Design Degree at IADE – Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing, and from 2004 to 2006 she worked at the Architecture and Design Department of the Arts Institute from the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, where she has collaborated in the conception and production of the Portuguese Official Representations at the 9th International Biennial of Architecture in Venice and the 6th International Biennial of Architecture in S. Paulo, the national and international presentations of the exhibition Metaflux– Two Generations in Recent Portuguese Architecture” as well as the organization of lectures and seminars focusing contemporary Architecture and Design.
